Villagers in Ghana collect their water from a borehole and carry the water back to their houses.  The average person in Ghana uses 10-20 litres of water a day compared to 300 litres used by someone in Britain.

Our sponsored water carry is to celebrate World Africa Day on the 25 May and to raise awareness of the importance of safe drinking water worldwide.  Would you like to join our sponsored water carry?

Water Facts

More than 1 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water.

443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related illnesses that keep children out of school and compromise their ability to learn when they do attend.

When you flush the toilet, you are using the same amount of water that one person in a developing country uses all day to wash, clean, cook and drink.

40 billion hours each year are spent collecting water in sub-Saharan Africa, equal to over 19 million full-time employees.
